Proposed direction · October 2026

Two series for
Pimpernel.

Maddy brings us inside the winery. Restaurant visits show people discovering those wines. The people, the process and what ends up in the glass connect the two.

Built around the two-format proposal: education + first-person filming. Minimum one video per series per week, over six months; restaurant partnership included.

01 · Inside the winery · Wine education

Maddy explains wine.
Inside Pimpernel.

Maddy hosts. Mark and the winery team bring their own expertise.

One interesting question, answered through the wines, the work and the people at Pimpernel. Maddy shows us what is happening and why it matters.

How each episode worksStart with a question → show the process → explain what it means for the wine.

Curious → confidentI understand this wine—and the people making it—a little better.

Example episode & topics
One possible episode

What is this barrel doing to the wine?

“You’ve heard someone say a wine is oaky. What is the barrel actually doing?”

  1. Maddy opens beside a barrel at Pimpernel.
  2. She brings in the person who made the decision and asks why they chose this barrel for this wine.
  3. We show the actual work or a tasting comparison, if one is available. Explain one effect in everyday language.
  4. Maddy returns to the glass: what might someone notice, and whose taste could this style suit?

To develop this idea: we’ll choose a wine and a barrel story with the Pimpernel team, based on what we can show and explain.

Other episodes within this series

  • The process: “How do we decide these grapes are ready?” Follow the person making the call.
  • The people: “Why did you start making wine?” Maddy asks Mark, alongside the work he does today.
  • The wine: “You like Chardonnay. But which kind?” Make a style difference easy to understand through their wines.

Each episode helps viewers understand the wine and feel more confident choosing one they’ll enjoy.

Can the sommelier
pick it?

Michelle visits. A restaurant sommelier takes the challenge.

We arrive with a concealed Pimpernel bottle. The sommelier tastes it, talks through the clues and makes a guess. Then we reveal the wine.

How each episode worksVisit → taste → clues → final guess → reveal.

CuriousWhat is that wine? I want to taste it for myself.

Example episode & filming
One possible episode

A Pimpernel wine, tasted blind.

“We’ve covered the label. Can you tell us what’s in the glass?”

  1. Follow Michelle into the restaurant. Introduce the person tasting and what makes this venue worth visiting.
  2. Pour from the concealed bottle and agree what the guest is guessing: grape and region, for example.
  3. Let them explain what they notice. Keep the useful clues understandable.
  4. Get their final guess, then reveal the bottle and keep their genuine reaction.
  5. Ask what they would serve with it. Finish with the named wine and a clear way to explore it.

First-person filming: capture the arrival, conversation and tasting from the visit itself, using camera glasses where practical.

To develop this idea: we’ll agree on the wine, venue and guest, then organise the visit with Michelle and Andrea.

How they connect

The same wine, in both series.

We meet the people making a wine, then see other people discover it. Each episode also works on its own.

Viewers can follow the same wine from the winery to the restaurant table. We’ll link the related episodes and make it easy to explore the bottle or plan a cellar-door visit.

What the content should do

Discover. Understand. Choose.

DISCOVER · CURIOUS

“I want to see this.”

A surprising winery question or a blind-tasting challenge gives new people a reason to watch.

UNDERSTAND · CONFIDENT

“I get this wine.”

Maddy’s explanation and the guest’s tasting clues help people work out whether it is for them.

CHOOSE · TAKE A STEP

“I want to try it.”

Explore the bottle, ask for it at a restaurant or plan a cellar-door visit.

Both series can reach new people. More detailed wine stories may reach fewer viewers but encourage saves, enquiries and visits. We’ll measure each video against its purpose: helping people discover Pimpernel, understand the wines or take the next step towards trying them.

Who we want to reach

Introduce new people to Pimpernel while continuing to connect with the customers who already know and love the wines.

Discerning ExplorerI’d like to try something new, but I want some help choosing.

Make the wine approachable and give them a reason to try it.

Next steps

Let’s shape the first shoot together.

1. Wines to feature

Which wines would you like us to introduce first? We’ll choose an available bottle to connect the two series and show viewers where they can try or buy it.

2. What we can showcase

Which parts of the vineyard, cellar and winemaking process can we film? Help us choose the people, wines and stories you’d most like viewers to discover. We’ll check the wine details with your team before filming.

3. Restaurant visits

Are there restaurant partners you’d like us to feature? Taige and Andrea will propose a venue and guest, then coordinate the visit with Michelle and everyone involved.
